How to plan a Raleigh date night in Village District
Step 1: A Fun Activity

These fun activities are all perfect for an unforgettable Village District date night.
Shop til you drop – The Village District is a mall after all. Browse antiques, jewelry, books, unique clothing, pet accessories, wine, shoes, etc. The sky is the limit.
Explore the public art – Leading into their 75th anniversary, Village District has been investing heavily in fun murals and whimsical public art installations. Explore living walls, murals, and fun selfie spots.
Laugh out loud at Goodnights Comedy Club – 401 Woodburn Rd – Since 1983, this subterranean den of delights has been a breeding ground for belly laughs, where comedians have perfected their craft. The dinner and drink specials will vanquish your hunger and prime your funny bone for an evening of unadulterated merriment.
Step 2: Grab Some Drinks
The Village District is not exactly a cornucopia of drinking options but you can usually just settle in at a restaurant and get a pre-dinner drink there.
Tupelo Honey Southern Kitchen & Bar – 425 Oberlin Rd – Tupelo Honey is a warm and inviting modern Southern restaurant chain with a focus on scratch-made comfort food. But they also have some delicious diabetes-promoting cocktails and other beverages.
Step 3: Have Dinner

With plenty of great spots for a bite to eat in Village District, these are some of the best ones for a date night in Raleigh.
Ajisai – 427 Woodburn Rd – This restaurant, bathed in a mood as mysterious as a moonlit haiku, offers sushi rolls and modern takes on other Japanese dishes. Try the Raleigh Roll with Lobster tempura, cucumber, and avocado topped with mango and seaweed salad.
Cantina 18 – 433 Daniels St – Locally sourced meats and fish take center stage in innovative Mexican fusion dishes, perfectly paired with handcrafted margaritas.
Iso Iso Ramen – 402 Oberlin Rd Suite 120 – This ramen spot is the perfect choice for a special night out for anyone who wants to take their time and thoroughly enjoy their meal. Choose from ramen, rice bowls, and appetizers. Don’t forget the boba or a cocktail to drink. The vegetarian ramen is a perfect balance of salty, sweet, and umami.
Cape Fear Seafood Company – 2018 Clark Ave – Fresh regional seafood, hand-cut fish that’ll make your taste buds sing, and signature dishes. But also steaks and chicken along with freshly made desserts and a decent drink menu in a casual atmosphere. Full disclosure: I’ve never been but I really, really, want to try their shrimp and grits.
Tazza Kitchen – 432 Woodburn Rd – Stylish restaurant offering a seasonal wood-fired menu. I love their salads and pizzas and they always have good dessert options.
Step 4: Get Dessert

Saving room for something sweet to wrap up your Raleigh date night in Village District? These are the perfect final stops.
Goodberries – 2042 Clark Ave – At this frozen custard chain, let your imagination run wild and craft a confection that’s uniquely yours. Start with chocolate, vanilla, or a delightful flavor-of-the-day, then choose from a cornucopia of captivative candies and tantalizing toppings to mix in.
Jeni’s Ice Cream – 2014 Cameron St – Jeni’s ice cream is ultra-creamy, smooth, and truly decadent. Expect high-quality ingredients and unique flavors. They even carry equally delicious gluten free and dairy free options.
Tiff’s Treats – 421 Daniels St – Plan ahead if you want cookies as they bake their treats to be picked-up or delivered fresh so they only have a limited selection of delicious warm cookies and brownies available for walk-ins.
Where to Park Around Village District
Since Village District is basically a giant mess of strip malls, there are plenty of free public parking lots throughout the area. Just be careful to watch where you’re driving and where you’re walking because the whole place is a collision waiting to happen.
Where to Stay Around Village District
If you’re visiting from out of town or decide to make a staycation of your Village District date night, consider staying at the Aloft, a comfortable, colorful, contemporary hotel on Hillsborough Street, or at The Store, a chic adults-only guesthouse in a former grocery store on Glenwood Avenue with amazing reviews.
Where to Get Coffee and Breakfast in Village District
Benelux Coffee – 402 Oberlin Rd – Picture white walls, wood tables, concrete floors, soft lighting, and world’s largest coffee bean mural. Add in coffee and yummy Belgian waffles and you’ve got a pretty good idea of what to expect.
Cafe Carolina and Bakery – 2130 Clark Ave – This is a local spot serving a variety of breakfast, brunch, and lunch items. I would kill for a French Toast Sandwich with Ham & Cheddar but a Strawberry Waffle could be good too.
Rise – 530 Daniels St – Modern and inviting chain that currently focuses on their southern biscuits and buttermilk fried chicken, but they also sell donuts.
The Flying Biscuit Cafe – 2016 Clark Ave – Chain serving all-day breakfast and comfort food. Their menu is heavy on southern breakfast and brunch items so wear your fat pants.
