September in Raleigh is a delightful interlude between the boisterous enthusiasm of summer and the contemplative quiet of autumn. The month kicks off with the Labor Day holiday and closes out with the bluegrass festival with plenty to do in between. Here are some of the best things to do in Raleigh in September.

Weather in Raleigh in September

September in Raleigh is a peculiar month, marked by an unfortunate tendency toward precipitation. While daytime temperatures hover around a tepid 82°F, offering a brief respite from the summer’s oppressive heat, the evenings provide a somewhat more agreeable 63°F. Unfortunately, this mild reprieve is often accompanied by showers, with an alarming average of 5.4 inches of rainfall over 9 days. Indeed, September is the most precipitous month of the year, necessitating the constant companionship of an umbrella. Despite these meteorological misfortunes, there is a silver lining: September boasts a generous allotment of sunlight, with approximately 217 hours of brightness. Such conditions, when the heavens are merciful, offer ample opportunity for outdoor pursuits.
